Held from 20 to 23 March 2007 at
Singapore Expo, the seventh presentation of AAMA-TEX 2007 concluded on
a high note with sales volume hitting a high of S$31.2 million and
foreign visitorship breaching the 60-percent mark. The exhibition
attracted 3275 visitors from 52 countries and regions, with the
majority of visitors coming from garment manufacturing powerhouses in
the South and Southeast Asia regions. Malaysia took the lead with 14%,
followed by Indonesia (10%), Sri Lanka (9%), India (8%), Bangladesh
(7%) and Thailand (3%). AAMA-TEX 2007 also welcomed visitor delegations
from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
In a visitor
survey conducted during the exhibition, an overwhelming 73 percent
expressed their intention to visit AAMA-TEX in 2010, while 64 percent
indicated that they would make purchases or place orders as a result of
visiting the exhibition. Some 60 percent expressed satisfaction with
the overall quality of the show.
The exhibition was supported by
Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau, Textile & Fashion
Federation (Singapore) and Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and
Industry. It was officially opened by Mr S Iswaran, Minister-of-State
for Trade and Industry, Singapore.
AAMA-TEX 2007 received strong endorsement from many industry counterparts, including:
- China Sewing Machinery Association (CSMA)
- German Garment and Leather Technology Association (VDMA)
- Guangdong Sewing Equipment Chamber of Commerce
- The Clothing Manufacturer’s Association of India (CMAI)
- Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA)
- Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association (SLAEA)
The
exhibition attracted more than 260 exhibitors from 23 countries and
regions, a record in the history of the show. There were also three
national pavilions from Singapore, China and Germany. A total of SGD
31.2 million worth of deals was concluded during the show, as reflected
by an exhibitors’ survey.
